What’s the difference between Inpatient and Outpatient?

Inpatient care describes any treatment or service that requires a visit to a hospital or other healthcare facility and requires an overnight stay. Outpatient care is a medical treatment or diagnostic that does not require being admitted overnight to a hospital.

What is an excess?

An excess is the amount you need to pay towards your hospital admission, before an Insurer will pay a benefit. It’s one of the things you can’t claim back.

What is the Medicare Benefits Schedule?

The Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) is a listing of the Medicare services subsidised by the Australian Government.

What is the amount that Indeed subsidise for Health Insurance?

Indeed subsidise premiums based on employees receiving the full Australian Government Rebate. If an employee’s circumstances dictate that they are not eligible for the full rebate (e.g. high income bracket), then Indeed’s subsidy will not cover the entire monthly premium. An employee in this situation will then be responsible for paying the balance of the premium.

In what circumstances can I amend my policy?

During the course of the year, you might experience a change in your life that means you need to make changes to your health insurance policy.  This includes getting married, having a baby, adopting a child, or sometimes moving to a different area.  You must notify both HR (Benefits) & Medibank of any of the above within 14 days of the event.
